The source of our vegetable cooking oil is our plantation and at PT. Tunas Baru Lampung we currently control a land bank of more than 60,000 hectares in Lampung, used mainly for oil palm plantation.
Oil palm is recognized as the highest oil producing crop per hectare of all oil yielding vegetables. This means that at any given production level, oil pal requires a smaller plantation area than any other oil producing crop.
YIELD TO IMPROVE SIGNIFICANTLY
The normal productive life cycle on an oil palm tree is 25 years before replanting. As the age of our oil palm trees is still young, we expect the yield of our plantation to improve significantly as the oil palm grow older and reach their prime. To cater for a growing demand for vegetable cooking oil in Indonesia and the export market, we intend to continue to expand our hectarage by implementing an aggressive planting program as well as acquiring new plantations as and when opportunities arise.
CARING FOR THE ENVIRONMENT
AT PT Tunas Baru Lampung we believe we are playing our part in caring for environment of the world’s largest archipelago. We use almost 100 percent of all that we harvest thus ensuring that nothing Mother Nature provides us is wasted. We even utilize the empty fruit bunches as fertilizer in a mulching and trenching process. We respect environment and are committed to environmentally sound business practices in all our activities because we believe this will help future generations a world that will be worth living in.
